How long does it take?

 Usually 30 minutes or less. 

Will I get a DOT Card that day?

 Yes, when you pass the DOT Exam, you are issued a DOT Card the same day. 

What is the vision requirement?

 You must be able to see 20/40 in each eye and both eyes with or without glasses or contacts and be able to distinguish between colors on a traffic control device (red, yellow and green).

Make sure you bring your glasses with you to prevent any delays.

What is the hearing requirement?

 Hearing should be good enough to notice a forced whisper at a minimum distance of 5 feet 

What if I have a heart condition?

 In case you are currently diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease such as congestive cardiac failure, collapse or cardiac insufficiency, then you will be required to provide the Medical Examiner with a stress test as well as with a note from your physician which states that you are able to drive a commercial motor vehicle without restrictions. 

What if I have sleep apnea?

 Drivers using a CPAP or BIPAP must have a recent 30 day record that they have successfully been wearing device with a score of 70% or better. 

What does the urinalysis test for?

 Protein, Specific Gravity, Blood and Glucose. 

How long is the DOT Card issued for?

 Based off the driver's health, the DOT has guidelines permitting certification for 3 months, 12 months, and 24 months. 

What medications are restricted?
